Admission information for EU citizens
Documents for EU citizens
Citizens of EU Member States, Member of the European Economic Area and of the Swiss Confederation may apply for admission to all cycles of university studies in the same conditions provided by law for Romanian citizens, after the recognition of their studies undertaken in the home countries.
The deadline for submission of the application for admission is 15th of July.
Recognition of the studies
All international students interested in applying for any of the programs organized by the Petroleum – Gas University of Ploiești, Romania, can find useful information on CNRED website (www.cnred.edu.ro/en ).
I. Applicants from EU countries should follow first the procedure for the recognition and equivalence of their studies.

Petroleum - Gas University of Ploieşti can assure the necessary support in order to send your documents to the Ministry of National Education for the recognition and equivalence of the study diplomas. Tor this you have to send a file to nicoleta.vasii@upg-ploiesti.ro
II. After receiving the equivalence certificate, the applicants should send to the Petroleum- Gas University of Ploiesti, an application file with all the documents described below.
Undergraduate studies
The application file shall include:
1. Application form
2. birth certificate – copy and certified translation into Romanian/English/French; in case of dual citizenship both certificates will be uploaded;
3. Identity card, attesting where the candidate is domiciled;
4. copy of the Passport, valid for at least 6 months from the beginning of the studies; in case of dual citizenship both passports will be uploaded;
5. Marriage certificate and, if applicable, a certified translation in Romanian/English/French, for the married candidates (women). The registration is done with the surname from birth certificate;
6. Baccalaureate Diploma or equivalent, and, if applicable, a certified translation into Romanian/English/ French; or, as the case may be, the certificate (for the graduates of the current year) of passing the national examinations for graduation of high school;
If the candidate is enrolled in another faculty, he/she will write this on the copy of the diploma and upload a certificate stating this situation;
7. Transcript of records from high school and, if applicable, a certified translation into Romanian/English/French the completed studies, in original;
8. Certificate of recognition of the Baccalaureate Diploma, issued by CNRED (National Centre for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas);
9. Certificate of proficiency for Romanian/English language, as case. Those who don’t have one, will take an eliminatory test of language proficiency, evaluated as admitted / rejected. The test is held according to the calendar established for each study program (information will be provided prior to admission, when selecting a programme taught in other language than Romanian).
10. medical certificate (in an international language) to testify to the fact that the candidate does not suffer from contagious diseases or any other diseases incompatible with the future profession.
11. One photo passport type, with a resolution of 300 x 300 dpi;

Master studies
The above documents (except document no. 8) plus:
13. Bachelor's Degree Diploma and, if applicable, a certified translation into Romanian/English/French; or, as the case may be, the certificate (for the graduates of the current year) of passing the examination for Bachelor Degree; If the candidate is enrolled in another faculty he/she will write this on the copy of the diploma and upload a certificate stating this situation;
14. Diploma Supplement (transcript of records) for the completed studies, and, if applicable, a certified translation into Romanian/English/French;
15. Certificate of recognition of the Bachelor's Degree Diploma in original, issued by CNRED (National Centre for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas)
Admission information for non-EU citizens

Undergraduate/Master studies
The application file to obtain the letter of acceptance to study shall include:
1) birth certificate – copy and certified translation into Romanian/English/French;
2) copy of the document certifying permanent residence abroad;
3) copy of the passport;
4) Application for the issuance of the letter of acceptance (Annex 2);
5) copy and certified translation of the high school diploma or its equivalent (in English/French/Romanian), certified by the authorities of the issuing country;
6) copy and certified translation of the high school graduation certificate (in English/French/Romanian) for the graduates of the current year;
7) copy and certified translation of the Bachelor's Degree Diploma and Diploma Supplement (in English/French/Romanian), certified by the authorities of the issuing country; (only for those who apply for Master programmes)
8) medical certificate (in an international language) to testify to the fact that the candidate does not suffer from contagious diseases or any other diseases incompatible with the future profession.
9) As applicable:
- Graduation Certificate of the preparatory year of Romanian language
- Certificate of language proficiency in English or the proof that the student studied English language, if the candidate will apply for an academic programme taught in English.
*Exceptions: candidates coming from countries whose official language is English.
It is possible to pass on-line the linguistic competence test, if this is missing.

II. After receiving the Letter of Acceptance for study, the candidate must apply for a visa to the closest Romanian Embassy.
III. Enrollment Conditions
At registration, candidates will present the original studies documents and identity documents from the application file, together with the Letter of Acceptance for study;
a) Passport having the specific visa for studies in Romania;
b) Certificate of birth (legalized translation in Romanian, English or French);
c) Original study documents issued in States that are parties of the Convention regarding The Hague Apostille, must be certified by the competent authorities of those countries with The Hague Apostille. Click here for more details
d) Original study documents issued in States that are not parties of the Convention regarding The Hague Apostille will be over-legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country and by the Embassy / Consular Office of Romania in that country
e) Medical certificate
f) The candidate might be asked to pay the fee for one year (see the annual fees section) prior to enrollment and also might be asked to prove the existence of a sum of money necessary for one year living.
Romanian Language Preparatory Year
Preparatory year for foreign students
- Accredited by the Romanian Ministry of Education
- Meant for foreign students who want to study at Bachelor, Master or PhD level, in state or private universities from Romania
- Lasts for 1 academic year (October-June)
- Requires full attendance (60 credits)
- Preparatory Year Certificate issued upon successful completion of the programme
- Romanian or foreign grants accepted
- Tuition fee: 2700 €/academic year
